“Once upon a time...
on a cold night, the full moon blazed like a beacon in the still water.
A rare ripple disturbed its peaceful reflection and the water lapped the quiet edge of the lake.
The rustling of the trees almost hid the sound of a branch breaking under a careful foot.
A small figure stooped among the trailing fingers of large willow, shadowed by the large trunk.
As no one but the stars watched, he dipped his net into the water and slowly cast it out,
stretching gently but relentlessly towards the shining moon. The moonfisher, intent upon his prize...”

moonfisher
Moonfisher members have been playing together since 2006 and this
long relationship is reflected in their warm, tight sound.
Every Moonfisher song has it's own distinct resonance and all have the signature Moonfisher groove.
One might ask, What exactly is the 'signature Moonfisher groove'?
Well it might be described as alternative rock with a bit of grit, some blues and a lttle folk sprinkled in. We recommend you experience it and see for yourself.
Moonfisher is comprised of:
Kelly Peak
Kelly has been a singer since the age of 5 and has the tape to prove it (thanks, Mom!). She has since sung with many choirs, including the Carolina Choir while she was an undergraduate at UNC-CH. Once aspiring to be a singer/songwriter, Kelly turned her work in a rock direction after joining moonfisher. She is grateful to a dear friend for giving her a vintage Peavey Foundation bass guitar, which she plays through a Hartke rig. Musical influences: Ani DiFranco, Counting Crows, Poi Dog Pondering, The Police, Rush, The Smiths.
Mark Foley
Mark started out as a guitarist in the San Francisco area playing
and singing with such notable bands as 'The Slaves of Mister Ed',
'Brainstem' and 'Mosquito Control'. A solo project required drums
so he figured "How hard could drums be?" After realizing
they were in fact, quite a bit more difficult than he thought, he
also realized he loved it!
Now living in Chapel Hill, Mark plays a very nice 5-piece Gretsch Renown kit.
Musical Influences: Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, The Beatles, The Smiths,
Nirvana.
Drumming style: Ringo/Dave Grohl.
Koen van der Drift
Koen is a Dutch ex-pat who has lived in Chapel Hill for over 7 years. He has been playing guitar for too many years to count.
While in college, he played for several years in the 'Southern Diplomats', based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
After moving to the US to pursue a career outside music, he decided to dust off his gear that he took along and found the core
of what now is moonfisher. He mainly plays his '52 butterscotch Telecaster reissue through a homebuilt Tweed Deluxe amplifier.
Musical influences: Ben Harper, Rolling Stones, Arno Hintjens, Tom Waits, Black Crowes, Ry Cooder, ...
